Meet The Mother

Society today is so different from past days. Children were able to play safely outside. There were backyard baseball, badminton, tag, king of the mountain, jacks, et cetera, along with bike riding, fishing and talking with friends. Today’s children are scheduled so much that they don’t have time to “just play.” Lessons, classes, teams and competition are introduced and promoted by parents to the exclusion of free play thus eliminating a child’s ability to learn socialization skills. Along with tht came the use of technology so that children from a very young age are using cell phones. Conversation is becoming obsolete and kids are self-isolating.

Children need to be free to play and pretend and use their imaginations. They need to be able to be silly and laugh at themselves and with others without being intimidated.

The old nursery rhymes, fables and childrens’ stories help preserve the past and allow children to giggle and laugh and have fun. There are songs and fingerplays and rhymes that teach numbers, rhyming, coordination and friendships. They should be considered early education and be part of early childhood curriculum.

It’s All About The Kids

There is no more important activity for preparing your child to succeed as a reader than reading aloud together. Listening is prep work: children learn to love the sound of language before they read printed words on a page. Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. When the rhythm and melody of language become a part of a child’s life, learning to read will be as natural as learning to walk and talk.

Standards I Live By

  • Provide the children with a safe environment.
  • Read a selection of books with educational and moral value.
  • Engage the children with a unique presentation of the material.
  • Stimulate a lifelong love of learning at a young age.

Creative Storytelling

We can help children find the tools they need to succeed in life. Having access to information through the printed word is an absolute necessity. Knowledge is power, and books are full of it. But reading is more than just a practical tool. Through books we can enrich our minds; we can also relax and enjoy some precious leisure moments.
